Debunking outrageous lies and claims being made about other gods.

First, there are actually three versions of “Mithra”, non of which match any claim exposed here, we can find:

The Roman Mystery Cult of Mithra
The Persian/Iranian Mithra
The Vedic Mithra

Claim: Mithra was born of a virgin on December 25th, in a cave.

Mithra was actually born out of solid rock, he was not born of a virgin. In other versions, Mithra was created as an adult by Ahura Mazda.

The only evidence we have about his birthday being celebrated on December 25th comes from the celebration of the birthday of Invictus in the Calendar of Philocalus... but anyways, the first christians never celebrated christ’s birth that date.

Claim: Mithra was considered a great traveling teacher and master.

There is nothing in the Mithraic tradition indicating he was a teacher of any kind.

Claim: Mithra had 12 disciples.

There is no evidence for any of this in the traditions of Persian/Iran or Rome. In the Persian/Iran version, he had one companion (Varuna) and in the Roman version he had 2 companions (Cautes and Cautopatres)

Claim: Mithra was buried in a tomb and after three days rose again, and Mithra was celebrated each year at the time of his resurrection.

Again, there is nothing in the Mithraic tradition indicating he ever even died or resurrected.

Claim: Mithra was considered to be the “Way, the Truth and the Light,” and the “Logos,” “Redeemer,” “Savior” and “Messiah.”

None of these terms has ever been applied to Mithras. This are just outrageous lies.
